I started a 3D model of the apartment based off the guesstimate measurements given to me by my mom and had a small moment of panic. When I placed a full sized bed into the space and got a feel for the kind of space I will have to work with I thought "What have I done? This is going to be impossible!".
Before I had this 3D view, I had imagined Id have room for a little sleeping area and a little living room area and a dining area. In my imagination, "little" was on the side of tiny and tight, so I was expecting very small spaces. I imagined my bed in a little nook made of book cases and the rest of the room devoted to living room type stuff. Nope. This is very much not the case.
I hadn't imagined that a full size (not queen, mind you) bed would take up one quarter of the floor space and reside on the one and only corner of full wall space.
I need to look at this as a game. A game I can win if I really put my mind to it and commit myself to paring down years worth of collected junk and useless possessions. Good thing I was really good at Tetris!!!
I will post images of the 3D model tonight.
You can do this! Think of it in many ways as a fresh start. Shedding extraneous possessions is a very powerful experience. Even stuff that we thought we couldn't live without is rarely that important. You wanted a clean start...
ReplyDeleteI'm there for you on this adventure. Let's strategize about what you're keeping, deaccessioning, or replacing. G and I can be on the lookout for possible small-space versions of things you need.
I'm so excited for you, and delighted to help welcome you back to Milwaukee.
